1 # IBM Model M 2 3 This is the parent directory for all projects that replace the controller 4 of IBM's Model M Keyboard and then run QMK on it. 5 6 These controllers differ in their use of microcontrollers, connection (mainly 7 USB) optional speakers etc. 8 9 Some of them can be bought fully assembled others are do-it-yourself. 10 11 ## Warning - Model M Variants 12 13 **Not all of these projects will fit into your keyboard!** 14 15 As the Model M was produced over several years there are many variants of the 16 controller PCB. Check what fits your keyboard before you build/order one. 17 18 The variants built for PCs differ in: 19 * PCB size 20 * Connectors (8/12 pin flex, location) 21 * Ground wire connector location 22 23 Additionally IBM built Model M variants for terminals with 122 keys, the 24 space saving keyboard (SSK, 84-key) etc.
